You're Looking for Someone Who Actually Gets It

You've been holding everything together for so long. Managing the house, the kids, the expectations. Showing up for everyone while quietly wondering when someone will show up for you. Maybe you're navigating life in a country that still doesn't quite feel like home. Maybe you're caring for a loved one while watching your own energy disappear. Maybe you became a mother and lost yourself somewhere in the process.

You've probably tried talking to friends or family. They mean well, but they don't really understand. Or maybe you've seen a therapist before who nodded in the right places but couldn't quite grasp the weight of what you carry. The cultural complexity. The invisible labor. The specific exhaustion of being the strong one in every room.

What you want is simple: someone who truly understands. Not because they read about it in a textbook, but because they've lived some version of it themselves. If this sounds familiar, you're in the right place.

A Therapist in Mississippi Who Understands From the Inside

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with specialized training in perinatal and infant mental health

I’m Caroline Petty, founder of Angaza Therapy. I believe everyone deserves a therapist who truly sees them. The name “Angaza” means “to illuminate” in Swahili. My goal is to offer a space where you can see yourself more clearly, understand your struggles with compassion, and move forward with confidence.

I bring both professional expertise and lived experience into my work. My background in maternal and child health, combined with advanced training in perinatal and infant mental health, allows me to support women navigating pregnancy, postpartum changes, parenting stress, and identity shifts.

As an immigrant, mother, and caregiver to a child with special needs, I understand the complexity of building a life between cultures, giving deeply to those you love, and searching for belonging in unfamiliar spaces. These experiences shape how I show up in therapy and guide the care I provide.

Why I Do This Work

My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experiences of navigating life's most demanding seasons. I know what it's like to feel caught between cultures, uncertain where you fully belong. I understand the particular exhaustion of caregiving, of pouring yourself into someone else's wellbeing while your own needs wait. I've felt the profound identity shift that comes with motherhood and the grief that can accompany it.

These experiences taught me that struggles make sense given our circumstances. They're not character flaws or signs of weakness. They're human responses to overwhelming situations. This understanding is at the heart of how I practice: with compassion, without judgment, and with deep respect for the wisdom you already carry.

What Compassionate Therapy Feels Like

Therapy with me is a calm, steady space where you can finally exhale. There's no pressure to have everything figured out or to share more than you're ready for. We move at your pace, exploring what you've been carrying and discovering what support looks like for you right now.

I believe in partnership, not prescription. You're the expert on your own life, and I'm here to walk alongside you, offering perspective, practical tools, and a grounding presence. Together, we'll work to understand the patterns shaping your experience and develop strategies that actually fit your reality.

Many clients describe our work together as the first time they've felt truly seen. They notice feeling more grounded, more connected to themselves, more able to set limits without guilt. These shifts happen gradually, through consistent support that honors where you are while holding space for where you want to be.

Therapy for Women Navigating Life's Heaviest Seasons

I work with women who are carrying more than anyone sees. Women who have been identified as "the strong one" in their families and communities. Women navigating the invisible labor of caregiving, the complexity of life between cultures, and the identity shifts that come with motherhood and beyond.

You might be experiencing:

  • Overwhelm, anxiety, or depression that won't lift
  • The emotional weight of pregnancy, postpartum, or early motherhood
  • Caregiver exhaustion from supporting a child with special needs or an aging parent
  • Questions of identity and belonging as an immigrant or first-generation adult
  • Grief, loss, or life transitions that have left you feeling unmoored
  • The feeling of being disconnected from who you used to be

A Trusted, Affirming Space to Be Yourself

Clients often tell me they chose to work with me because they sensed I would understand without needing lengthy explanations. They wanted a therapist who wouldn't just observe their experience from a clinical distance but would genuinely comprehend the weight of what they carry.

What clients value about working together:

  • Genuine understanding rooted in lived experience, not just training
  • Warm presence that feels safe without being casual
  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for their unique background
  • Practical tools alongside emotional support
  • A steady, grounding presence in the midst of chaos
  • Permission to move at their own pace without pressure
  • Honesty delivered with care, never harshness
